Whether it’s been weeks, months, or even years – it’s never too late to return to the water. At SUBMERJ, we know that first swim back can feel a little daunting, so we’re here to help you feel prepared, confident, and excited to dive in again!

Here’s what to pack before you head to the pool:

✔️ Swim kit – Swimsuit or trunks
✔️ Goggles – For comfort and clear vision
✔️ Towel – Big enough to wrap up and dry off
✔️ Nose plugs or swim cap – Optional, but helpful for comfort and confidence
✔️ Shampoo, conditioner, body wash – You’ll want to rinse off after your swim
✔️ Hygiene essentials – Bring any personal care items or a “just in case” kit
✔️ Medication or inhalers – Don’t forget these, and make lifeguards aware if needed
✔️ Snack for after – Swimming takes energy! Something light and nutritious is perfect

🚫 Avoid eating heavy meals at least 60 minutes before your swim

 

Tips for getting started again and having a positive return:

1) Start slow – A few gentle lengths is a great beginning

2) Focus on how you feel, not how far you go

3) Stretch before and after to ease your body in

4) Stay consistent – one swim a week is a great start
